So we’ve shown you how we produce great beef and lamb, you’ve probably tasted it at one of our feasts. But we are lucky that our unique kitchen allows us to teach children all about cooking great beef and lamb too, as well as how to make the most from the farm produce that we grow.
Our Kids Farm Kitchen Workshops, aimed at 7 to 13 year olds, are a great way for children to learn about food, farming and how they are linked. Where possible we use our own produce from the farm and garden. The workshop includes:
- Refreshments on arrival
- 3 hour tuition/discussion/demo/practical including recipes
- 2 recipe dishes to take away
- If the weather allows, we will spend half an hour outside in the garden, digging vegetables, picking fruit or on the farm brushing May and Gem, our Hereford cows.
Our Menu for the week is as follows:
Mon 6th Aug – Homemade deli beef burgers and roasted potato herb chips, mini meringues with seasonal fruits – here the children will get to design, flavour and press their own beef burgers.
Tues 7th Aug – Spicy beef or lamb pitta pockets with homemade tomato relish and serious chocolatey mousses – kids will love spicing their beef or lamb and making their soooo chocolatey mousses.
Wed 8th Aug – Homemade sausages – sausage jambalaya, Luscious lemon cheesecakes – children will learn how to make their own sausages and use them to make a sausage jambalaya.
Thur 9th Aug – Moroccan Kebabs with spiced couscous salad, homemade ice cream – using meat from the farm, the kebabs will use seasonal vegetables and the children will be able to flavour and then make their very own ice cream.
Frid 10th Aug – Homemade tagliatelle bolognese, summer fruit parfait – children will love making their own pasta tagliatelle, using beef from the farm for the bolognese.
